Green tea is touted to be one of the healthiest beverages on the planet due to it's high polyphenols, EGCG catechins and L-Theanine.
Green tea has been found to help with fat burning (Dulloo et al). Positive effects on body-weight management have also been shown in subjects who drink green tea, as the catechin may prevent development of obesity (Diepvens, Westerterp, and Westerterp-Plantenga).
Kurahashi et al suggest that green tea also contains a catechin (EGCG) known for it's high antioxidants and potential cancer-fighting characteristics.
Mancini et al presented evidence that green tea influences psychopathological symptoms (e.g. reduction of anxiety), cognition (e.g. benefits in memory and attention) and brain function (e.g. activation of working memory seen in functional MRI).
