Our strong, all day black tea. If you like your black tea strong and bold, you've found what you're looking for. Black or with milk, this certified organic and premium (OP1) black assam tea is a robust, clean everyday hero with a subtle citrus after-bang.
It's strong and premium flavour exists by sourcing organic Black Assam OP1 leaf from selected tea farms. This quality leads to a beautifully balanced, low on bitterness black tea that will help you seize the day.
Cultivated in the valley of the Brahmaputra River in India, an area of clay soil rich in the nutrients of the floodplain. The area is one of only two regions in the world with native tea plants, and is so special it demands it's own timezone; known as "Tea Garden Time".
Polyphenols and catechins are major constituents of black tea and are responsible for antioxidant actions (National Library of Medicine USA). Black tea has an ability to inhibit free radical generation...and the activity of pro-oxidative enzymes (Łuczaj & Skrzydlewska).
Due to strong antioxidant properties, black tea inhibits the development of various cancers and is considered to be anti-carcinogenic (Brahma et al). Black tea compounds inhibit the function of certain enzymes responsible for the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and mental degeneration (Mazumder, Shuvasish & Choudhury).

Tea Ritual
1. Steep 1-2 heaped teaspoons of leaf per 250ml of water.
2. Add hot water (90-100°C) and let it hang out for 1-2 minutes.
3. Strain and enjoy. Loved black, but milk and sugar smooths it out.
